About This Site

The website began its life hosting the Drive Space Indicator project on Dougiefresh's Comcast account. It had been serving updates for DSI for quite some time.

The XP Theme Source Patcher began as a batch file with a big collection of resources, which was only capable of patching a Windows XP installation source with the resources. A RyanVM Integrator add-on was written in order to add some things that the batch file couldn't do on it's own, such as patching the UXTHEME.DLL file and adding INF and CAB files to the installation.

Dougiefresh was contacted in order to write a GUI to completely replace the batch file scripts. One of the features of the GUI is the ability to download theme packages from our website, and the ability to pull individual updates when resources are updated. It also is capable of patching a live system, meaning you don't have to reinstall your operating system in order to see the new resources.

Recently, some programs, including DSI, were been added to both the add-on and the GUI in order to make XP more like Vista.

As the GUI progressed, it became clear that Dougiefresh's 1 gigabyte Comcast web space was not large enough for the project. The website and all related services were transferred to a hosting company, which offered us unlimited bandwidth and space.

In addition, PHP support is offered by our hosting company. This offers us the ability to completely automate the website, allowing us to upload new bits and pieces to the website without having to alter the underlying code in order to display the new bits. Examples of this exist in the Galleries, the Downloads section, as well as in the Drive Space Indicator section.

Fixit, the authors of 4 out of 5 of the original XPtsp themes, was invited to join the website. The first program to join the website was Live Bootscreen Patcher, which changes the bootscreen on Windows XP. The second program to join the website was 7 Theme Source Patcher, which is a Windows 7 version of the XP Theme Source Patcher.

Along the way, some small utilities were added, mostly by Fixit. Windows XP add-ons were added by Dougiefresh.

The website had to be moved to InMotionHosting after many problems with our previous host's service (which shall remain unnamed).

In November 2011, a redesign of the website began. The purpose was to align the website's appearance with the Aero theme of the phpBB board. As of this writing, the redesign has not been completed.
